About the role

As an IT Support and Information Assurance Specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical support and ensuring the security and integrity of our information systems. Your role will be critical in maintaining smooth IT operations and safeguarding sensitive data in line with industry best practices and compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first and second-line IT support to internal users, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues promptly and effectively.
• Implement and maintain information assurance policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Assist in the management of user accounts, permissions, and access controls in accordance with security protocols.
• Monitor IT systems for security breaches and respond to incidents in a timely manner, including investigation and reporting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT projects, upgrades, and deployments.
• Maintain accurate documentation of IT support activities, information assurance procedures, and incident reports.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in IT support and information security to continually improve service delivery.

Qualifications and experience

• Proven experience in IT support and information assurance, preferably within a technology or defence-related environment.
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and endpoints.
• Knowledge of information security standards such as ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, or equivalent frameworks.
• Experience with risk assessment, vulnerability management, and incident response.
• Familiarity with user account management, Active Directory, and access control systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, ITIL Foundation, or similar are advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team within a fast-paced environment.
